  • Employed in a new role for Native to become the key point for all IT matters. I soon became a key member of staff tasked with simple fixes to infrastructure planning and rollout. I also manage the yearly IT budget.
    • Establish a first point of call for the 70 staff at Native and utilise the 3rd party support company or resolve issues myself.
    • Compiled a central file of all relevant documentation; log-ins, suppliers, processes and contacts.
    • Proposed a plan for the long term future management of IT within Native.
    • Manage all IT equipment enabling staff access to the hardware and software they need, legally and cost efficiently, including getting all machines on the current version of required software.
    • Manage the mobile phones, loan equipment and iPad fleet and printers.
    • Enable all hardware to be fit for purpose, upgrading some, replacing others.
    • Improved the AV and back-up processes.
    • Provide instant response to requests, greatly improving the fix times.
    • Propose long-term project plans such as SIP telephony, cloud mail, training, DR and expansion.
    • Planned the migration of e-mail to Mimecast giving unlimited mailbox capacity and a DR e-mail solution.
    • Planned the upgrade of the LAN and Wi-Fi network.

  • Managing the 2 IT staff and services in the London offices of this large publisher, my team had to implement changes and support our users during a major infrastructure upgrade over two years; We switched from an Oracle back-end to the more standard Microsoft AD and Exchange environment. The changes – together with a massive overhaul of the LANs, WAN and desktop computers – were initiated in our Head Office and I managed the London office implementation. I also organised change management with the London creative workers and Senior Executives.
    • Managed the LAN and ensure mobile working is available and secure.
    • Managed all desktops (50% Mac, 50% PC) including maintenance, repair & upgrade, purchase & disposal.
    • I wrote and presented the ‘public face of IT’ at monthly company-wide inductions at all locations.
    • Liaised with our users to promote the benefits of IT and listen to suggestions or indeed, complaints. Implement suggestions of value and resolve any issues.
    • Fully managed the London side of the Help desk, with reports going to the CIO, and conduct staff appraisals.
    • I also organised road show events and financial presentations to the City.
    • Managed our own Mitel VoIP telephone system and call logging system.
    • Actively rolled out Final Cut Studio video production facilities within existing departments, including cameras.
    • Assist with compliance policies ensuring all legalities are covered.

  • I was managing the Xinet account, liaising between our UK customers and our developers in the US and Germany. I was also in discussions with developers such as DevZeroG as to how we could successfully involve their products into our solutions.

    My main role was to follow up on our sales teams lead's, meet and understand our prospective client's existing operation and advise on any improvements that could be made to their workflow and DAM installation.

    Manage the discussions through to a mutual agreement of equipment, timings and costs. Then ensure that the equipment was ordered, installed, set-up, tested and rolled out to our client's requirements.

    This covered a wide variety of media companies, pre press organisations and art houses including Pearson Education, The Art Group and TAG Worldwide.

  • Tasked with developing the digital facilities in this newly formed advertising agency, I also supervised all production department operations, ensured adherence to IT policies and procedures and managed all documentation and cap-ex reports throughout. This included FAST certification.

    • Prepared and presented yearly capital and operating budgets with my line manager.
    • Worked in a team of 8 covering all aspects of IT in-house.
    • Guaranteed a 24/7 back up procedure for all the production departments data.
    • Integration of projects with the building services director such as office moves, and cabling.
    • I project managed the transition from Mac OS9 to OS X (80 workstations), and their integration with Active Directory using LDAP.
    • I helped to build The Golden Retail Studio – a unit within M&C Saatchi with 30 staff, built specifically to produce advertising for Currys, Dixons, PC World and The Link. This studio handled over 60 national and regional press inserts per week, pushing £2 million of media space per week and had to be operational 24 hours a day.
    • I technically implemented Or Video – a unit designed to bring video production in-house (in 1999), I introduced Avid and Media100 to make rough-cuts, mood reels, and we were soon able to produce offline and online edits, enabling us to get client approval for broadcast quality films at a vastly reduced cost.
